How to Use These Coloring Pages
Quick Answer: Print on standard paper for coloured pencils, or use heavier cardstock (120gsm+) if you’re colouring with markers or watercolour pencils.
These pages are designed for A4 or US Letter paper. Here are my best tips for getting the most out of them:
- For coloured pencils — Standard 80gsm printer paper works perfectly. I love using Prismacolor Premier pencils for smooth blending, but any set will do.
- For markers or gel pens — Use 120gsm paper or heavier to prevent bleed-through. Print a test page first to check your printer settings.
- For watercolour pencils — Print on 200gsm+ watercolour paper or cardstock. Colour first, then add water with a brush for a painted effect.
- Print quality tip — Set your printer to “Best” or “High Quality” mode. The lines will be sharper and easier to stay inside.
- Multiple copies — Print extras! These make great activity sheets for a Mother’s Day brunch or a rainy afternoon craft session with the kids.
Creative Ways to Give Coloring Pages as a Gift
Quick Answer: Colour a page and frame it, assemble a DIY colouring kit with pencils and pages, or turn a finished page into a handmade card. It’s the thought and time that make these gifts special.
A coloured page is genuinely one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give. Here are some ideas I love:
- Frame it — Colour the floral heart (page 11) or the wreath (page 17) and pop it in a simple frame. Instant personalised wall art that Mom will actually treasure.
- Make a colouring kit — Print a few pages, roll them up with a set of coloured pencils and tie with a ribbon. A relaxation gift for a busy mum.
- Create a card — Print a design at half size, colour it, fold it, and write a message inside. Handmade cards beat shop-bought every time.
- Mother’s Day brunch activity — Print several pages and set them out with pencils and markers at the table. Colouring together over brunch is surprisingly lovely.
- Add it to a gift basket — Tuck a few coloured pages or blank ones into a basket with tea, chocolates, and a candle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these Mother’s Day coloring pages free?
Yes! All 18 pages are completely free to download and print. Just sign up with Grow.me (it takes about 10 seconds) to unlock the PDF. Once you do, every free printable on my entire site unlocks automatically too.
What age are these coloring pages for?
All ages, honestly. The simpler designs — like the mason jar (page 10) and the mama bear (page 5) — are great for younger children. The more detailed pages like the mandala (page 7) and butterfly garden (page 15) are perfect for adults and older kids who enjoy a longer colouring session.
Can I use these as a Mother’s Day gift?
Absolutely! Colour a page and frame it for instant personalised wall art. Or print a few pages with some coloured pencils and wrap them up as a DIY colouring kit. You could also print at half size, colour, fold, and turn one into a handmade card.
What paper should I print these on?
For coloured pencils and crayons, standard 80–100gsm printer paper works perfectly. If you’re using markers or gel pens, go for 120gsm or heavier to avoid bleed-through. For watercolour pencils, print on 200gsm+ cardstock or actual watercolour paper.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I hope you and your family enjoy colouring these pages together (or on your own — no judgement, colouring alone with a cup of tea is peak self-care). There’s something about putting pencil to paper that just feels grounding, and these designs were made with that in mind.
