For Junk Journaling

Cut them into pockets, envelopes, or fold-out pages for your junk journal spreads

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Patterns

Print on Different Paper Types Try printing the same pattern on regular printer paper, cardstock, vellum, or even watercolor paper. Each gives a completely different feel. I love printing on watercolor paper and then adding hand-drawn elements with Micron pens or acrylic markers.

Mix and Match Don’t feel like you need to use just one pattern per project. Layer different patterns together, or use complementary designs on facing pages.

Color Over Them Print in black and white (saves ink!) and then color them in yourself. It’s like having built-in coloring pages that you can customize to match your project perfectly.

Experiment with Scale When printing, try adjusting the print size. Printing smaller creates a more delicate, detailed look. Printing larger makes a bolder statement.

Use Them as Inspiration Even if you don’t print them, these patterns can inspire your own drawings. Maybe you see a floral pattern and decide to draw your own mushroom variations, or a geometric design sparks ideas for chibi poses with patterned clothing.

Still not sure how to use these? Here are some specific project ideas to get you started:

Weekend Junk Journal Spread Print 2-3 complementary patterns. Cut one into a pocket, another into journaling cards, and use the third as a background layer. Add vintage ephemera, some handwritten journaling, and maybe a few pressed flowers or leaves. Boom—gorgeous spread in under an hour.

Scrapbook Mini Album Choose 5-6 patterns that work together (maybe all florals or all vintage-themed). Print them on cardstock and use them as pages for a small accordion-fold album. Perfect for vacation photos or documenting a special event.

Mixed Media Art Journal Page Print a pattern, glue it into your art journal, then paint or collage over parts of it. Let some of the pattern peek through. Add text, doodles, or stamping. The pattern adds instant depth and texture.
