What's inside the kit
Three templates to trace and paint
- A peony drawing template — clean, simple line art. Trace it, copy it freehand, or just colour it in.
- A tulip watercolour template — a little cluster of tulips in a drawn frame, lovely as a finished piece.
- A Café au Lait dahlia template — soft pencil lines, the same one that comes with the recipe card below.
A sample colour recipe card
This is the thing I'm proudest of, so I've put one in for free. It's a full colour recipe for the Café au Lait dahlia — the painted original, then every colour swatched out with its exact mix ("Warm Peach Base: yellow ochre + quinacridone coral + buff titanium"). Paint the template on the next page straight from it.
My premium watercolour collections pair every template with its own recipe card. This one is a taster, so you can decide whether that's your sort of thing.
A practice sheet and a colouring page
- A watercolour practice sheet — nine simple flowers printed in faint guide lines: a daisy, tulips, a rose, a sunflower, poppies, lavender. You paint straight over the top, so there's no drawing to worry about first.
- A botanical wreath colouring page — a full ring of flowers, leaves, berries and little butterflies. Lovely with pencils on a slow evening.
Four vintage junk journal papers
Soft pink roses on torn cream paper, a pale rose and a parrot tulip on aged lined pages, and a white hydrangea with beautiful dark leaves. Print them, cut them, layer them into a journal — or just use them as writing paper, which is what I mostly do.
Everything prints at home on ordinary A4 or US Letter paper — no special supplies, no printer wizardry. The watercolour pages like a slightly thicker paper if you have some, but they're perfectly happy on plain printer paper too. All ten pages are yours for personal use.
Who it's for
Mostly, it's for anyone who keeps meaning to make something and never quite starts. There's no skill level attached to any of these pages. If you can hold a pencil and switch a printer on, you're qualified.
It's also genuinely nice for a rainy afternoon with children, if that's your situation — the colouring page and the peony template both work well for little hands.
