Prismacolor coloured pencils add vibrant fills, and a kneaded eraser is brilliant for precise lifting. Honestly though, any pen and paper will get you doodling.

Fill the page edge to edge, combine different patterns, and layer shapes to build a sense of depth. Add colour to highlight areas if you like.
