Snow on a red post box, a robin on the lamp post, a letter sealed with a blob of red wax. A Victorian Christmas junk journal is all about the old-fashioned Christmas post, and it’s one of my favourite themes to make.
I’ve made a whole kit around it, and you can try three of its pages for free: a sealed-letters patterned paper, a sheet of nine gift tags and a fold-up envelope. Pop your email in just below and they’ll be with you in a minute.

What’s in the Free Pages

Quick answer: three real pages from Victorian Christmas Post, printable at A4.
- A patterned paper of cream envelopes with red wax seals and sprigs of holly. Lovely for covers, pockets and backgrounds.
- A sheet of nine gift tags in the kit’s papers: ribbon-tied parcels, little robins, holly, deep red damask, plaid and painterly watercolour.
- A fold-up envelope with cut and fold lines marked, sized to hold an ATC or a folded letter.
How to Get the Victorian Christmas Look
Quick answer: deep reds, holly greens and warm cream, plus anything to do with letters. Envelopes, stamps, postmarks, wax seals, string and brown paper parcels.
The Victorians more or less invented the Christmas card, and the penny post meant letters flew back and forth all December. That’s the feeling to chase: candlelight, ink, a parcel tied up with string. Keep the colours rich but slightly faded, as if the page has been in a drawer for a hundred years.

If you love the old-paper look, my vintage Christmas ephemera post has more printable bits to layer in.
10 Victorian Christmas Junk Journal Ideas
- A Christmas letter page. Write a real letter to yourself, or to someone you miss, and seal it in the envelope.
- Wax seals. A blob of red sealing wax (or a wax-seal sticker) on an envelope flap instantly looks Victorian.
- Brown paper and string. Wrap a tag in a scrap of kraft paper and tie it with twine, like a tiny parcel.
- A card-keeping pocket. Keep this year’s Christmas cards in a pocket, and cut out the fronts you love most.
- Postmark doodles. Draw round circles with the date and your town, like an old postmark, in brown ink.
- Stamp borders. Edge a page with real or printed postage stamps.
- Gift tag lists. Use the tags for your Christmas card list and tick each one off as it goes in the post.
- Pressed greenery. Press a sprig of holly or ivy and tape it down with washi.
- Tea-staining. Brush a little cold tea over the edges of a page and let it dry for an aged look.
- A lace edge. Glue a strip of old lace or a paper doily along the bottom of a page.

Make a Christmas Letter Pocket Page
Quick answer: fold the envelope, write a little letter, seal it, glue it onto the patterned paper.
- Cut the envelope out along the solid lines and score the dashed fold lines.
- Fold in the sides and the bottom flap and glue them down.
- Write a short Christmas letter on a scrap of paper or on the back of a tag and slip it inside.
- Close the top flap with a wax seal or a sticker.
- Glue the envelope onto the patterned paper, tie a tag through with twine, and you’re done.

What You’ll Need
- A4 paper. Matte photo paper or 120 gsm paper looks lovely. Ordinary printer paper is fine for the tags.
- Scissors and a glue stick, or double-sided tape.
- Twine or thin ribbon for the tags.
- Optional: sealing wax or wax-seal stickers, a scrap of lace, a teabag.

Are the three pages really free?
Yes. Pop your email in the box at the top of the post and the PDF comes straight to your inbox. You can also download it right away from the thank-you message.
What size are the pages?
A4 portrait. Print at 100% (turn off “fit to page”). On US Letter paper, choose “fit to page” instead and they shrink a touch to fit.
What makes a junk journal look Victorian?
Rich reds and greens, cream paper, letters, stamps, wax seals, lace and a slightly aged edge. Keep it layered and a little bit worn.
Can I sell what I make with these pages?
You can sell finished handmade journals you make with them. Please don’t share or sell the printable files themselves.
Print the pages, write someone a letter and tuck it in. I’d love to see what you make.
Happy journaling!
