Dahlia Watercolor Templates: FAQ

Is there a free dahlia sample I can try first?

Yes. You can grab two free pages from the collection — one printable dahlia outline to paint plus a bonus colour-recipe card — by popping your email into the form near the top of this post. They download instantly on-screen, and a copy lands in your inbox too. It’s a lovely way to test the templates before buying the full set.

What’s included in the Dahlia watercolor template set?

You get 31 original dahlia outlines as a print-ready PDF on A4 pages, plus 31 matching transparent PNG digi stamps for digital work in Procreate, Canva or GoodNotes. Every composition is different — dahlias tucked into vintage letters and teacups, or growing out of ink bottles, lanterns, even snail shells.

Do I need to know how to draw to use these?

Not at all — that’s the whole point. The drawing is already done for you as clean line art, so you just print or trace the outline and jump straight to the fun part: adding colour. It’s exactly why beginners reach for them.

How much do they cost and where can I get them?

It’s a paid set, usually £8 (~$10) as an instant download from my Payhip shop. It’s also included free for Tier 2 & 3 members of my Patreon, alongside a whole library of other templates and creative resources.

Can I use these in Procreate or other digital apps?

Yes — that’s what the transparent PNGs are for. Drop a stamp onto a layer, add your colour layers underneath the line art, then finish with brush textures or palettes. They resize without going blurry, so they work for digital colouring, stickers and planner art too.

Can I print them at home?

Absolutely. They’re designed for A4, and you can print them at home or at a local print shop as many times as you like for personal use. For watercolour, print straight onto watercolour paper or trace the outline across, and let each layer dry before adding the next.

Are dahlias good for beginner painters?

They’re a lovely subject to start with. The layered petals and bold shapes are forgiving — nobody’s counting whether you’ve got the “right” number of petals. Build up soft washes and layer your colour and you’ll get a beautiful bloom without any of the drawing stress.

What can I make with them?

Loads. Traditional watercolour or ink paintings, digital art, junk journal pages, handmade cards, planner spreads, even sticker sheets if you print onto sticker paper. They’re purposely versatile so you can mix and match across projects.

Dahlias are all about depth in the petals, and that comes down to mixing. Over on my Patreon, the premium reference sets pair printable outlines with colour-recipe cards, so you always know exactly which paints built each bloom.
