December is a tired little month, and it does love to ask us to make everything perfect. So I’ve made you the opposite: a little printable journal for closing the year slowly, with a few wobbly watercolour motifs to paint and some gentle questions to answer.
Pop your email in below and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.
It’s an A4 PDF. Print it at 100% on watercolour paper if your printer will take it, or on any thick paper you have.
If you’ve come over from the HobbyScool Create & Reflect Retreat, hello and welcome. This is the journal that goes with my class, The Wobbly Watercolour Reflection Page.
What’s inside

Twelve pages, all with plenty of white space for paint and words:
- A welcome page with the one wash technique, in four easy steps.
- A December palette of five soft colours: Winter Sage, Holly, Winterberry, Candlelight Gold and Frost Blue.
- Seven reflection pages, each with a soft pencil motif to paint over: this year in three words, the wobbly things I’m proud of, small joys I want to remember, what I’m ready to set down, a gratitude list, what I’d like more of next year, and my one gentle intention.
- A paint-along page, the one we paint together in the class: a wash across the top, a few wobbly motifs and your year in three words.
How to use it
- Print the pages you want. You don’t have to do them all.
- Wet your brush, lift a little colour and let it puddle onto the page. More water than paint.
- While it’s still damp, touch in a second colour and let them meet. Then walk away and let it dry.
- Paint over the pencil motif if you like, then answer the question in your own words.
- Try one page a week from now into the new year.
Nothing here needs to be neat. The wobble is the whole point.
