Thank you so much for these. I am making my daughter a junk journal with these pages as the main pages throughout. I am not sure how to decorate them so they are useable to journal on when it comes to the beautifully decorated pages with lots of images or large images? Any suggestions? I am new to this and having a hard time decorating without covering up the beautiful houses or fairies!?
Hi Kelly,
I’m so glad you like the fairy junk journal printables! It sounds like a lovely project for your daughter.
Decorating around those larger images can be tricky, but here are a few ideas to try:
Tuck-Spots: Create little pockets or flaps with decorative paper near the images. These can hold journaling cards, tags, or even small photos without covering the main picture.
See-Through Layers: Use vellum or translucent paper to create overlays on top of the image. You can then write or draw on the vellum without hiding the fairies completely.
Border Magic: Decorate the edges of the page with washi tape, stickers, or even a simple painted border. This frames the image beautifully and leaves room to write in the center.
Tip-Ins: Add smaller journaling cards or tags that can be tucked partially behind the image or attached with a decorative clip.
Let the Image Inspire: If there’s a large fairy house, maybe add a little “door” that opens to reveal a hidden journaling spot. Or if there’s a fairy in a garden, add some pressed flowers or leaves around her.
Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to decorate a junk journal. The most important thing is to have fun and make it personal for your daughter. I’m sure she’ll love it no matter what!
Feel free to share photos of your finished journal when you’re done. I’d love to see how it turns out!
Happy crafting!
Dee
