Free Duck Template Printables: FAQ
How do I download the free duck templates?
Pop your email into the signup box in the post and I’ll send you a link to instantly download the duck templates you’d like. There are three to choose from: a simple outline, a realistic outline, and a cute one. Grab one or grab all three — they’re yours to use in your art and craft projects.
What size do the duck templates print at?
All three ducks are saved as JPGs at A4 size, so they print straight from any home printer with no fuss. If you want a bigger duck, adjust your printer settings or choose ‘set to size’ and run it on an A3 sheet. For a smaller one, just scale it down the same way.
Can I use the duck template for watercolour painting?
Absolutely — that’s one of my favourite ways to use them. Print the outline, then transfer the shape onto watercolour paper and fill it in with paint or watercolour brush pens. I use Tombow brush pens for this and they give a lovely painterly finish that’s fun for both kids and grown-ups.
How do I turn the duck outline into a reusable stencil?
Print the template, then either print it directly onto a mylar transparency sheet or trace it onto plastic mylar. Cut the shape out carefully on a cutting mat and you’ve got a stencil you can use again and again. A Cricut cutting machine makes the cutting quicker if you have one, but scissors work perfectly well too.
What crafts can I make with the duck printables?
So many! They work as coloring pages, art journal focal points, greeting cards, and cut-out wall decorations. They’re brilliant for Easter crafts too — print, cut, and glue one onto a plastic egg holder. Kids especially love them, and it’s a sweet way to practise fine motor skills and colour recognition.
What paper works best for the duck templates?
It depends on what you’re making. Plain printer paper is fine for coloring or tracing, cardstock holds up better for cards and cut-out decorations, and watercolour paper is the one to reach for if you’re painting. Match the paper to the project and you’ll get the tidiest result.
Can I use the duck templates in my own projects freely?
Yes — these are free printables for your personal art and craft projects, so colour them, paint them, and craft away. I add new free templates, SVGs, and printables every week, so it’s worth bookmarking the site if you’d like more like this one.
Three duck templates are ideal for crafting with little ones and for a gentle painting session of your own. If you’d like something more involved to paint, my premium reference sets on Patreon show you the exact paint mixes behind each one — from £14 (~$18).
